As a Carpentry Technician, you will provide practical and technical support to both staff and students within our construction workshops. You will ensure that workshop environments are safe, well-equipped, and maintained to a high standard, enabling learners to gain valuable hands-on experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing materials, tools, equipment, and resources for practical lessons.
  • Maintaining carpentry workshops and ensuring equipment is serviced and safe to use.
  • Supporting teaching staff during practical sessions and student assessments.
  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
  • Assisting with workshop demonstrations and supporting learners with practical activities when required.
  • Maintaining accurate records of equipment inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Contributing to a positive learning environment that promotes student achievement and engagement.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised qualification in Carpentry and Joinery or a related construction discipline.
  • Recent industry experience within carpentry, joinery, construction, or a related trade.
  • Good knowledge of current health and safety practices within workshop environments.
  • Experience using and maintaining a wide range of woodworking tools and machinery.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to supporting learners and promoting outstanding educational experiences.

Desirable

  • Experience working within an educational or training environment.
  • Knowledge of City & Guilds or vocational construction qualifications.
  • First Aid qualification.
