As a Carpentry Technician, you will provide practical and technical support to both staff and students within our construction workshops. You will ensure that workshop environments are safe, well-equipped, and maintained to a high standard, enabling learners to gain valuable hands-on experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing materials, tools, equipment, and resources for practical lessons.
- Maintaining carpentry workshops and ensuring equipment is serviced and safe to use.
- Supporting teaching staff during practical sessions and student assessments.
- Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials as required.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
- Assisting with workshop demonstrations and supporting learners with practical activities when required.
- Maintaining accurate records of equipment inspections and maintenance activities.
- Contributing to a positive learning environment that promotes student achievement and engagement.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A recognised qualification in Carpentry and Joinery or a related construction discipline.
- Recent industry experience within carpentry, joinery, construction, or a related trade.
- Good knowledge of current health and safety practices within workshop environments.
- Experience using and maintaining a wide range of woodworking tools and machinery.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to supporting learners and promoting outstanding educational experiences.
Desirable
- Experience working within an educational or training environment.
- Knowledge of City & Guilds or vocational construction qualifications.
- First Aid qualification.
